7 Of The Best London Wedding Venues (with reviews)
Firstly, huge congratulations if you are lucky enough to be planning a wedding in London! You'll be spoilt for choice with so many wedding beautiful venues in the city, it's difficult to know where to start! Given our experience in supplying luxury wedding decor for London venues, we thought we'd share some of our favourites and let you know what you can expect at each one.
The Hurlingham Club
The Hurlingham Club is a prestigious private members' club set in beautiful and elegant grounds, bordering the River Thames in Fulham. The stunning location makes it a popular choice for weddings and other special events.
The club has several event spaces on offer that can be used for weddings, including both indoor and outdoor areas. The Hurlingham Suite is the biggest and most popular space, accommodating up to 400 guests for a wedding reception. It offers a grand setting with high ceilings, chandeliers, and a large space for dancing (perfect for one of our white LED dance floors!).
The venue grounds are central to its appeal, providing an idyllic backdrop for wedding ceremonies and outdoor receptions. The gardens are beautifully well maintained and offer a unique environment for outdoor weddings and drinks receptions.
The Hurlingham Club has a good reputation for its high-quality service and attention to detail, with clients sharing that it's "incredibly easy to organise, the food was fantastic, and the layout of the rooms and terrace was perfect", the venue staff are experienced and able to assist with event planning, catering and introductions to London's best wedding suppliers.
Fulham Palace
Not far from the Hurlingham Club is the truly historic Fulham Palace. The Grade I listed building dates back over 1300 years and offers an elegant and unique setting for weddings.
There are a variety of event spaces to use at Fulham Palace, ranging from The Great Hall, which is a grand setting that boasts beautiful stained glass windows and vaulted ceiling, to The Drawing Room and Bishop Terrick's Dining Room, which suit smaller and more intimate ceremonies. There is also the option to go for a marquee wedding in The Bishop's Garden.
Fulham Palace offers a great environment for wedding parties too - items like our light up letters, neon signs, and LED dance floor are the perfect compliment to your evening entertainment - we regularly work alongside the fabulous bands from Tailored Entertainment and their electro swing specialists Gatsby's Jukebox have proved popular at Fulham Palace in the past, Katharine who booked the band for her wedding at Fulham Palace said, "5/5 - Super band. Couldn't have hoped for more"!
Mandarin Oriental - Hyde Park
If your preference is for luxurious accommodation and elegant event spaces, then the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is a great choice for your London wedding.
Our decor works brilliantly in this high-end venue and we were delighted to receive such positive feedback from a recent light-up letter booking, "Thank you so much for providing the beautiful MR & MRS letters. They finished the venue off perfectly and made such a good impact xx".
From the moment you make your grand entrance to the hotel, your experience is one of luxury and class. The Ballroom overlooks Hyde Park and has a rich history of hosting events for royalty, celebrities and high-profile individuals, the dramatic follow to ceiling windows, private garden and terrace make set this venue apart and the quality of the venue is matched by their expert planning team.
Reviews are consistently excellent for the Mandarin Oriental, a previous client noted: "From start to finish the hotel and staff were amazing. It was seamless end to end. The staff showed genuine friendliness and kindness. Our room was so luxurious with so many little touches. Simply fabulous!!".
Dartmouth House
For Mayfair weddings, Dartmouth House takes some beating. The stunning Grade II listed Georgian mansion is an elegant and historic setting, perfect for an exclusive, quintessential London wedding.
The house, which can be exclusively yours if booked at a weekend, is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and has a range of rooms to suit intimate gatherings, ceremonies up to 100 guests, seated receptions of up to 150 guests and evening parties for up to 350 guests. The elegance of the mansion is mixed with contemporary catering, and you and your guests will be able to enjoy the stunning French Chateau-style outdoor courtyard, as well as the house.
Dartmouth House offer simple all-inclusive packages that help make the planning enjoyable and stress-free - and you can complete your wedding booking with Elizabeth James Events decor, like Anna and Andrew did:
Kew Gardens
For a truly unique setting, Kew Gardens is an excellent choice. The iconic botanic gardens provide a breathtaking backdrop for your wedding - whether it be the manicured lawns, serene lakes, ornamental flower beds or exotic plan collections, the setting is difficult to match in London.
The building architecture at Kew is also grand and charming - the venues available for weddings include Nash Conservatory, which is elegant and light-filled, as well as The Orangery, which is a beautiful venue with it's own private terrace and views of the garden.
The team at Kew are high-end and very experienced and are able to help create special events - from intimate weddings to classic luxury weddings. We've worked at Kew suppling decor and with our friends at Tailored Entertainment, providing live music with PA and lighting, and we'd best describe Kew as a magical setting that really has the potential to create the most unforgettable of weddings.
Hoxton Grill
Hoxton Grill offers something a bit different to the other venues we've featured in this article - it's a super trendy setting in Holborn and 'The Apartment' is a venue space with 7 different sized rooms, as well as the 'Pantry Kitchen', which becomes the bar for the evening.
The space can accommodate up to 250 guests and the split space gives a variety of options for your evening reception - one area can be for music and dancing, another for drinks and chatting, and others for photos, games and more. The venue is perfect for making it your own, and we can support you to find the right backdrops to set the scene for a truly unique day, our top pick would be a custom neon made just for you, on a sequin wall, complete with a vibrant balloon garland.
Morden Hall
Our final pick is one that escapes the hustle and bustle of Central London and allows you to step into a more tranquil world!
Morden Hall, South London's hidden gem, is set within 125 acres of National Trust parkland and is an 18th-century country house that exudes elegance, charm and sophistication. If you are looking for a spectacular wedding setting, this is definitely one to consider.
The exclusive use hire package will allow you full use of the grounds, car park and four unique spaces for you and your guests to use. The photo opportunities are plentiful both indoors and outdoors and include a bridge over the River Waddle, as well as grand staircases and ornate fireplaces. The venue has space to accommodate 150 guests for ceremonies and up to 200 for your evening reception. The venue's catering options can cover British, Asian, African and Caribbean cuisines and the expert booking team offer a seamless service from first enquiry until the big day itself.
